Why do dermatologists get paid so much?

I%26#039;m watching a episode of grey%26#039;s anatomy where it shows dermatologist being happy, relaxed. I did some research and it says that the base salary for a derm is around $250,000 annually? I don%26#039;t know anyone who goes to a dermatologist so I%26#039;m perplexed at how high their salary is. How many years of schooling does it take?|||My father went to a dermatologist. His copay for his insurance was like 25 bucks and then he didn%26#039;t have to worry about it. When he got his statement from the insurance company he saw that like $2500 dollars had been charged to the insurance. I signed him in 7:55 and we were out at 9 am.

Id be relaxed too if I could charge an insurance company 2500 bucks for an hour of work.|||How many years? lots. After earning a medical degree and completing an internship, a dermatologist receives three more years of specialty medical training.

So, it basically takes as much time as any other medical specialty....about 12 years.|||4 years of college, 4 years of medical school and 3 years of dermatology residency
