Dermatologist question ?

i have never been. what is a dermatologist ?

what will they do my first visit.

i hear its to do with acne . ?|||A Dermatologist is a doctor that specialises in skin disorders/diseases|||As said before dermatology is the speciality surrounding skin disorders. These doctors are more specialised than your GP as they only see skin problems day in day out. They deal with everything to acne (usually severe and not manageable in general practice), to psoriasis to skin cancers.

During your first visit, the doctor would normally take a good history regarding your condition, including things that might be making it worse or better. Depending on the history, they may then decide that they can offer a treatment with or without follow up, or perform some tests (for example allergy tests).

With acne, dermatologists are able to use treatments that general practitioners cannot use (as some require strict follow up and monitoring and some can only be performed in a hospital). They may also be able to advise a bit more than GP%26#039;s can as they have much more knowledge on the subject.|||A dermatologist is a doctor that specializes in diseases and conditions of the skin. They do care for acne that has not been successfully treated by your primary doctor.
