Dermatologist..?

I%26#039;ve been going to the dermatolgist because I have been breaking out and have tried many different antibiotics and none of them seem to work. My dermatologist said something about accutane.. I think that%26#039;s what it was. Has anyone ever used this? What is it?|||I work in a pharmacy and it is pretty common for people with severely bad acne. Normally it is used as a last resort for people that have tried a combo of other things (non prescriptions as well as prescriptions. You should definitely talk with your doctor (as I%26#039;m not a pharmacist/MD so don%26#039;t know specifics) but I do know that the dangerous part about the drug is that if a woman gets pregnant while on it, it is EXTREMELY harmful for the fetus. most dermatologists make the woman also go on birth control, and if you do decide to go on it you will have to get a new prescription each month and will have a lot of (more specific) information to go along with it. I have heard people say that they were very happy with the results though.|||my dermatologist tried to put me on accutane, but it%26#039;s actually quite dangerous, so i didn%26#039;t go on it. have you tried some of the face wash systems? if you want to try something that%26#039;s not too expensive and it%26#039;s easy to find, you could try %26quot;clean %26amp; clear: advantage acne control.%26quot; i had bad acne for YEARS and nothing ever really worked. i tried some creams and stuff from the derm. but that didn%26#039;t help either. this stuff really worked for me. but you%26#039;ll need to find something htat works for yoru skin. i guess the point is, try some less harmful stuff before you try accutane. good luck!|||I used it when I was younger and it worked really good. When I was on it you had to get blood work every month or so. I%26#039;m not sure if you have to do it now. The only bad thing I remember was that my face did get very dry and the edge of my lips got very dry and started to crack. But it was worth it. My skin is not perfect because my acne was really bad but it could have been much much worse.
