i am a black male and i want to go the the dermatologist. Is it wrong that I want to see someone black because they will understand my skin questions more? I am not racist, not at all. I just want to know if you think the race of the skin doctor will matter.|||Every skin doctor (no matter what color their skin is) should know about skin. And since no skin is different, other than their pigment (which shouldn%26#039;t affect the skin itself much) I don%26#039;t think it%26#039;ll matter.
Although I do understand that it would be more comfortable having a dermatologist with the same skin color as you. Just like it%26#039;s more comfortable for, say, a woman to have a female doctor. It%26#039;s the same thing when the doctor and the patient have something in common.|||I think it all depends on what%26#039;s going on with your skin.In my opinion, an African-American dermatologists may be able to identify and be more knowledgeable about certain skin conditions of other African-Americans.
